Many animal welfare groups in Massachusetts and across the country are pushing to ban the use of anticoagulant rodenticides as they are killing non-target species.
Many wildlife rehabilitators are witnessing an increase in secondary rodenticide poisoning among predator species that consume poisoned rats and mice. When predators like hawks, owls, and foxes succumb to these toxins, the rodent population surges, worsening the very problem rodenticides are meant to control. Each of these animals can eliminate over a thousand rodents annually, making them essential allies in natural pest management.
